When My Faith Struggles by Chuck Lawless (Edited)
Life can feel chaotic, and even strong believers sometimes struggle to trust God. When faith gets difficult, Scripture gives us somewhere solid to stand.
In 2 Chronicles 20:12, Jehoshaphat faces an overwhelming enemy and admits, “We don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” Sometimes faith simply means keeping our eyes on God when we don’t have answers.
In Mark 4:35–41, the disciples panic during a storm, but Jesus remains completely in control. The wind and waves that frightened them were still subject to Him.
When worry takes over, Jesus repeatedly tells us in Matthew 6:25–34, “Don’t worry.” Our heavenly Father knows what we need.
When concerned about someone who doesn’t believe, John 3:16 reminds us how deeply God loves them. We keep sharing the gospel, praying, and trusting God.
When facing temptation, discouragement, or spiritual conflict, 1 Samuel 17:47 and 2 Chronicles 20:15 remind us: “The battle is the Lord’s.” We are not fighting alone.
When we are simply tired, Jesus gives this invitation in Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.”
And when guilt makes us question whether God can forgive us, Scripture repeatedly points us back to His mercy.
Faith does not mean we never struggle. It means that when we struggle, we know where to turn.
