Starting Out Right
It is that time again. The backpacks are out, the alarms are going off earlier, lunches are being packed, and our kids are back in school.
With a new school year comes new teachers, new classmates, new opportunities, and sometimes new pressure.
As parents, grandparents, and as a church family, we want our young people to do well. We want them to learn, grow, stay safe, and make good choices. But more than anything, we want them to remember who they are in Christ.
Let Your Light Shine
Jesus said:
“Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
— Matthew 5:16
That is a good back-to-school verse because our children have a chance to live it out every single day.
They can be kind when others are not. They can include the person who feels left out. They can tell the truth when it would be easier to lie. They can show respect to teachers, encourage their friends, and stand for what is right even when it is not popular.
Let's Pray for Our Young People
And they need us praying for them.
This year, let us pray for more than grades and test scores. Let us pray for their character, their friendships, their safety, and especially their faith.
Wherever they go—the classroom, the cafeteria, the hallway, the bus, or the ball field—they have an opportunity to let their light shine.
Go learn. Go grow. Go shine.
